Planning a day out with your pet? Whether it's a walk in the park, a visit to a pet-friendly café or a trip to the mall, here’s how to make sure your pet is happy and comfortable throughout your adventure :)
1. Pack the essentials
Before heading out, make sure you have a small bag with all the essentials. Bring along some water and a portable bowl—hydration is key! Don’t forget a few treats to reward good behavior, and of course, poop bags for quick clean-ups.
2. Comfortable gear is a must
Make sure your pet is comfortable in their harness or carrier. If you’re using one of our carriers, check that it’s the right size for your pet to move around a bit, but still feel secure. If your pet isn’t used to the carrier, it’s a good idea to do some short practice runs beforehand.
3. Mind the weather
Hot days can be tough on pets. Always have extra water on hand for both of you! On colder days, a sweater or jacket can keep your pet warm. Keep an eye on their paws too - hot pavements can be uncomfortable.
4. Plan for pit stops
Pets need breaks too! If you’re out for a while, make sure to take some time for your pet to stretch their legs or take a bathroom break. Look out for pet-friendly spots where they can roam safely. If your pet is new to public outings, starting with short trips can help build their confidence.
5. Keep an eye on their mood
Even the most social pets can get overwhelmed. Pay attention to their body language. If they seem tired or anxious, it might be time to head home or find a quiet spot for a break.
6. Be prepared for the unexpected
Always have a basic first-aid kit on hand, just in case. Accidents can happen and it’s better to be prepared.
7. Make it fun!
Finally, make sure your pet enjoys the day as much as you do. Bring along their favorite toy or take them to places they love. The goal is to create positive experiences that make them excited for the next outing.
Taking your pet out shouldn’t be stressful—it should be fun for both of you! With these tips in mind, you’re all set for a great time together.
